Coyote Point Yacht Club offers a sailing camp for children ages 8 to 13 wishing to learn how to sail and/or to improve their skills. We have 12 Optimist (Opti) Sailboats, each 8 feet long, designed for young sailors, that are easy to manage and fun to sail.
The program is designed to instruct the young sailing enthusiast in basic sailing skills and boating safety and to instill in them the joy of sailing. We provide instruction on the components of a boat, how to set up and sail a small boat, how to handle the wind, and proper boating etiquette. Advanced instruction including sail tuning, basic racing skills, and racing tactics and strategy is provided to students based upon their level of experience and abilities.
Our staff of experienced and U.S. Certified sailing instructors will put the young mariners through their paces in a comfortable, safe, positive and FUN environment while following the COVID-19 guidelines. We look forward to seeing you for this winter session.
Due to County of San Mateo County restrictions , our program has been drastically modified to fit the imposed criteria. Each session is limited to 12 sailors.
